Summer + Preston // Covington Winter Elopement
Summer connected with me back in late September/Early October to capture their December elopement at the Garden of Hope in Covington, KY right outside of Cincinnati, OH. On our initial consult call, I asked if COVID had anything to do with their decision to elope, to which Summer replied “Nope!” They wanted to have a ceremony that was totally and completely about them and didn’t want to include any of the fanfare of a big wedding. To that I said, right on sister friend. I think it’s so so important how each individual couple chooses to plan their day- as long as the love story is at the center and you’re focused on having an authentic day, it will be absolutely freaking beautiful no matter what.
I had the pleasure of meeting Summer and Preston in late October for some fall engagement photos, and then we reconnected in December for their elopement. They chose to get married on the exact date of their 6 year dating anniversary (talk about freaking GOALS my friends). The location also had a super special meaning for them. The Garden of Hope in Covington is where Preston’s grandma got married all those years ago. It was so fun to see the joy in her eyes as she watched her grandson get married in the very same place.
I enjoyed every single second of being along for the ride for this elopement day. We walked through the park together to capture some of those precious “before photos”, the two exchanged vows just before golden hour with light peeking through the trees, and we got to enjoy the rest of golden hour at George Rogers Clark Park for their bride and groom portraits. We parted ways, the beautiful couple to enjoy barbecue with family and friends, and myself to watch some Clemson football. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with these sweet souls and cannot wait to watch their family grow!
