Carly + Brian // George Rogers Clark Park
Downtown Covington Urban Anniversary Photos
Carly messaged me back in late August. Hers and Brian’s 2 year wedding anniversary was coming up on September 15 and they wanted to celebrate with photos- we all know that I was allllllll over that. They expressed some concerns with not previously enjoying photos, but they had a strong desire for photos to capture this season of life that they truly love. I was absolutely up for the challenge- once again we all know that I was on top of this mission like a wine cork on an empty bottle of wine (had to make the analogy fit ya know).
I’m not going to lie, every time someone comes to me with “we’re awkward, we don’t like photos of ourselves”, for one it makes me so so sad. I want all of these beautiful people to feel as good as they look. I want photos to tell your story and for you to look at them and feel the joy that I experience with you during the session. So on top of being a lil sad, I get a lil nervous. But, as I’ve told myself many times before, I need to hold on to those nerves because when they go away is when I have stopped caring- and that is the last thing I wanted.
So I prepped. I read blogs and looked up poses and scouted over the location they chose. They wanted to recreate their traditional Roebling Bridge photo and incorporate the Cincinnati Skyline. I brainstormed ways to make this session as true to them as possible and ensure they had a great time during it.
We met up on a Saturday evening. They’re both big UC football fans, so thankfully it was the week before UC’s first game of the season. We explored through George Rogers Clark Park, trekked over to the Roebling, and ended the evening at Hotel Covington. Let me tell you- within minutes I knew that I had to be friends with them. Carly and Brian are so kind and SO DANG IN LOVE. Their love is so fun and carefree, they are so in tune with each other and their excited energy extends to everyone they are with.
After the session, they invited me for a drink with them at Hotel Covington. I unfortunately declined - Clemson had started playing 40 minutes ago hehehe - but being the football fans they are, they completely understood. I was so thankful when Carly reached out again to grab a beer a couple of weeks later. I am thrilled that I was able to give them these memories that they really, truly loved, and that we are able to start building a friendship. Consider my two most important boxes checked. Carly and Brian, you two are amazing. Happy belated anniversary, can’t wait for more dinner dates and football Saturdays!
