Adventurous Waterfall Engagement Session
Back in August, I did a giveaway to celebrate reaching 500 followers on Instagram. I offered a free session to one lucky winner in 3 cities: Greenville, South Carolina, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cleveland, Ohio. Rachel was the winner of the Cleveland session, and I could not be more thrilled to have had the opportunity to take their engagement photos.
We waffled back and forth for a while about where we wanted to hold the session. My sister suggested Tinker’s Creek Falls, so we did a little research. The photos online looked pretty cool and we decided that this could be a really fun location for their engagement photos. I went with my sister and her kiddos to scout the location the morning of the session. If you know me, I am so Type A that I really prefer to see locations before I photograph them so that I can start planning in my head what I want to accomplish.
Let me tell you when I saw what we were going to be working with, my heart stopped. I was so dang excited to get to photograph this gorgeous couple with this amazing waterfall as a backdrop. My nephew, Jackson, however was more excited to attempt to fling himself off the waterfall. We had a couple of close calls hahhahah but the view was absolutely worth it.
When it finally came time for the session, I was a little nervous- I was not expecting it to be so cloudy (or the torrential downpour on the drive to the falls). I was really hoping we would have enough sun down at the base to use it as a backdrop for the photos. Thankfully, the sun peeked through just enough, giving Rachel and David the cloudy vibe they had in mind and still allowing me enough light to work some magic.
And let me tell you friends, pure magic is what we freaking WORKED under that waterfall. Rachel and David had such a strong connection and strong chemistry, it almost knocked me off my feet. Their love for each other is so evident in every photo, which is the ultimate goal right? I am so glad that they were willing to take the leap and adventure with me. David at one point, when I suggested getting on top of the waterfall, said “Anything for the photo, right?” and that’s when I knew we were destined to be friends.
I love adventure photo sessions you guys. I may not be an avid hiker, but I will do ANYTHING for the photo. If you’re looking for an adventure photo session in Cleveland, or any other location really- hit a girl up because I need more of this magic in my life ASAP.
