There’s something so special about engagement sessions that feel like a true reflection of a couple—and this German Village engagement session was exactly that. From wandering the brick-lined streets of one of Columbus’s most charming neighborhoods to ending the evening with drinks and darts at Beck Tavern, these Columbus engagement photos captured this couple’s playful, effortless connection perfectly.

German Village is one of my favorite places for engagement photos in Columbus because it offers so much variety within just a few blocks. The historic brick architecture, ivy-covered buildings, cobblestone streets, and cozy neighborhood atmosphere create a beautiful backdrop without ever making the photos feel overly posed. For couples who want their session to feel like a date night rather than a traditional photoshoot, it’s hard to beat.

We started the session outside, exploring the streets and letting the couple simply enjoy being together. Their connection came through in all the little moments—the way they naturally leaned into each other, the laughter between photos, and the quiet moments when they seemed to forget the camera was even there. The second half of their session brought us to Beck Tavern, where the atmosphere shifted from romantic and relaxed to playful and laid-back. Between the vintage bar details, dart boards, neon signs, and warm, moody lighting, Beck Tavern gave us an entirely different look from the outdoor portion of their downtown engagement photos.
