Liz + Kyle // U.S. Capitol Surprise Proposal

Back in September, I asked my big brother Kyle when he planned to propose to his girlfriend, Liz, and if he knew how he wanted to do it. Even back then (and my guess is since he met Liz), Kyle knew exactly how he wanted to propose. Fast forward to April of 2022- Kyle texted me that the plan was in motion. He had gotten in touch with our family friend who works at the U.S. Capitol Building as a police officer. A private tour was arranged to take Liz and Kyle behind the scenes of the Capitol Building. Little white lies were told, flights were booked, hotels were reserved, and our whole entire family was so freaking excited. When the day finally came, our family friend hid me under an archway leading out onto one of the patios (the very patio where the inauguration is held for every president) When he came back with Liz and Kyle, my brother got on one knee and asked Liz to be with him forever. I’m always pretty nervous for proposals, but this one I was especially so. All was well when Liz said yes and I got the shot Kyle had been dreaming about. Afterwards, we walked through the Capitol for a few more photos and then met up for brunch with our families who had flown in to surprise Liz. I love love love getting to document my client’s memories, but I love even more getting to document them for the people I love most. Welcome to the family, Liz!
